Nature friendly recreation and landscape aesthetics
Research project of the Bayerische
Staatsministerium für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Forsten in
München (Bavarian Ministry of Nutrition, Agriculture, and Forests in
Munich/Germany)
If landscape is not to get lost its reputation as a peculiar place, if the fate of „none-place“ is to be spared to it, then planning devices must be developed, which neither will neglect the current structural change in agriculture nor the growing recreation pressure caused by the still expanding urbanized areas. Within this frame of starting conditions the available manual with its practice-oriented solutions wants to initiate processes of fostering rural areas as places of nature-friendly recreation and of improving the living conditions of people in rural areas. To achieve these goals the aesthetic qualification of the landscape in agriculturally weak areas is considered as a crucial point, which implies the promotion and, if necessary, the redefinition of regional identity.
